Areyvut Mobilizes Volunteers for 24 Hours of Kindness Event

Event marks the 13th annual National Mitzvah Day.

Thousands of volunteers of all ages are expected to take part in National Mitzvah (good deeds) Day on April 2, mobilized by Areyvut, a non-profit organization that empowers and enriches youth through innovative programs. This year’s theme is “24 hours of kindness.”

Now more than ever, the world needs more kindness, and the event encourages participants to spread good deeds and kindness throughout their communities. Entering its 13th year, National Mitzvah Day encourages children, teenagers and adults to become actively involved in kindness and community service activities for 24 hours straight.

Any act of kindness—no matter how big or small—can positively impact the world. While individuals each have the ability to make a difference, volunteers join forces on this day to amplify the impact, bring people together, and create a sense of unity.

The event welcomes groups of all ages, cultures and backgrounds to come together and make a measurable difference in the world. For information and tools, and to register your event and be a part of something bigger, visit www.bit.ly/24hrsofkindness.

Individuals are encouraged to join the effort by registering on the official Facebook event page, http://bit.ly/facebook24hoursofkindness and sharing their acts of kindness using the hashtag #24hoursofkindness.

Areyvut means “responsibility” in Hebrew. Areyvut’s mission is to infuse the lives of Jewish youth and teenagers with the core Jewish values of chesed (kindness), tzedakah (charity) and tikkun olam (social action). Areyvut offers Jewish day schools, congregational schools, synagogues, community centers and families a variety of opportunities to empower and enrich their youth by creating innovative programs that make these core Jewish values real and meaningful to them.
