Lone Soldier Center Hosts Evening of Awareness at RAIN

On Sunday evening, May 7, The U.S. Supporters of the Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin is proud to host an event at RAIN in Teaneck to raise awareness about the Lone Soldier Center and funds to support its mission, which is dedicated to supporting the extraordinarily brave and passionate young men and women serving as lone soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces. Attendees will hear from former lone soldiers, parents of lone soldiers and the U.S. executive director of the Lone Soldier Center about how impactful and critical the Lone Soldier Center has become to help provide for lone soldiers’ needs.

The Lone Soldier Center is the only organization in Israel that is dedicated solely to the needs of all lone soldiers on a full-time basis. In addition to providing housing, clothing and other basic needs for lone soldiers when they are off-base, the Lone Soldier Center also provides advice and counseling, emergency assistance and Shabbat meals. The Lone Soldier Center also presents educational seminars, social events and networking opportunities. Many former lone soldiers who have benefited from the Lone Soldier Center are employed by and/or volunteer and mentor current lone soldiers whom they meet through Lone Soldier Center events.

There are approximately 6,500 lone soldiers from all around the world, currently serving in the IDF. In the recent past, there have been dozens of lone soldiers from Bergen County, including many from Teaneck, Bergenfield and Englewood, with several still currently engaged in their service. This event was organized by members of the community to support “our lone soldiers,” to raise awareness for the Lone Soldier Center and to provide it with funds necessary to continue its important work.

The event will take place on May 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at RAIN, located at 399 Water Street in Teaneck. Due to the generosity of the event sponsors, 100 percent of every dollar raised at the event is going to benefit the Lone Soldier Center.
