TABC Earns First Place in Science Olympiad

TABC’s Science Olympiad team recently competed against 13 area yeshivot in the annual Science Olympiad. The students had been preparing for months for the 12 competitions in areas involving the physical sciences, scientific writing and engineering. Their hard work paid off handsomely, earning them a comfortable overall first place finish among the other yeshivot with impressive placings in the categories of Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry Lab, Dynamic Planet, Ecology, Electric Vehicle, Fermi Questions, Herpetology, Invasive Species, Microbe Mission, Road Scholar, Towers and Write it Do it. The team, coached by Dr. Joel Berman and Mr. Shmuel Rosenblatt, is made up of an impressive list of students from all grades, including seniors Eli Dickman, Moshe Davis, Avi Cooper, Shai Gutfreund, Yehuda Koslowe and Hillel Koslowe; junior Yosef Aryeh Kahan; sophomores Avraham Kahan, Akiva Sturm, Ned Krasnopolsky, Nathanael Vinar and Alex Ostrin; and freshmen Mikey Schwartz and Ephraim Helfgot. Shai Gutfriend served as the team manager, and Avi Cooper, Yehuda Koslowe and Hillel Koslowe served as captains. Juniors Adiel Felsen, Mark Gotesman, Raphi Langer and Shlomi Helfot served as advisors. The success of the team in the Science Olympiad reflects TABC’s priority of a strong science program and engaging its students in rigorous academic pursuits and competitions.
