TABC Seniors and Teachers Receive Honors

On Tuesday evening, May 9, two members of TABC’s graduating class, Aviad Shely and Menachem From, as well as their instructor, Cary Reichardt, were honored at the awards ceremony for the Siegelbaum Literary and Visual Arts Competition.

The Siegelbaum Competition is sponsored annually by the Holocaust Museum and Center for Tolerance and Education in New York. The theme for this year’s competition was “The Power of the Immigrant Story in Holocaust Education.” Both students’ entries were in the prose category. Aviad was awarded first place (for his essay previously published in this newspaper) and Menachem was awarded second place. Mrs. Reichardt was recognized for years of educating her students in their Holocaust studies classes and inspiring them to incorporate those lessons into their social conscience.

The TABC Holocaust studies course visits the Holocaust Museum and Center for Tolerance and Education each year and also hosts many guest speakers from their Speakers’ Bureau throughout the school year, in order to foster greater awareness of the Holocaust and provide students with opportunities to examine and explore the many painful lessons of the Holocaust on a personal level.

TABC is very proud of Aviad’s and Menachem’s achievements.
