Ma’ayanot Wins Doubleheader, Improves to 3-1

Game one of the doubleheader was against the Hillel Heat who came off a steaming 11-1 victory in their previous game against Ilan. Hillel started off on the right foot scoring four runs in the first inning. Ma’ayanot knew they were still in it, and scored a run in the second, third, fifth, and sixth innings to tie the game at four. In the last of the seventh, senior co-Captain Danielle Pasternak hit a monstrous double to lead things off for the Rapids. Later in that inning, freshman Michal Meisels hit a walk off single, which allowed the winning run to score. Senior co-Captain Noa Applebaum, star Ma’ayanot pitcher, stayed in there and made sure that the first inning woes did not get the best of her. She pitched six scoreless innings to follow, eventually earning Ma’ayanot the 5-4 victory. However, Noa got some help along the way. Thanks to amazing plays by both first baseman junior Adira Levine and senior Alissa Felder, Ma’ayanot was able to capture the victory. Sarah Berman, junior assistant captain, helped as well with her dangerous hitting, helping Ma’ayanot score five unanswered runs. It was a huge win for Ma’ayanot as they looked to finish off business against Ilan in their next game.

The second game of the back to back wasn’t as close as the first one. Right from the get-go, Ma’ayanot took control, scoring three early runs against the fearful Ilan. Thanks to an amazing pitching performance by freshman Michal Meisels, and several great defensive plays by junior Tali Antosofsky, Ma’ayanot was able to secure the win, 11-1. Ma’ayanot scored in nearly every inning, thanks to powerful hits by Noa Applebaum, and of course, Sarah Berman. Ma’ayanot captured the crucial doubleheader sweep and got right back at the top of the standings.
