Help Torat Reva Yerushalayim Send Mishloach Manot/Matanot L’evyonim to Jerusalem’s Impoverished Elderly

Jerusalem—Torat Reva Yerushalayim, a non-profit organization based in Jerusalem, is pleased to announce that they will once again be preparing mishloach manot/matanot l’evyonim packages that will be hand delivered to the neglected and homebound elderly of Jerusalem. The packages will include healthy snacks, gifts and Purim treats. Their goal is to prepare a minimum of 130 packages.

The packages that Torat Reva Yerushalayim delivered over the last 12 years to Jerusalem’s elderly were the only gift packages that these individuals received.

According to the Rambam in his Mishneh Torah: “Gifts for the poor deserve more attention than the seudah (festive meal) and mishloach manot (gifts for friends) because there is no greater, richer happiness than bringing joy to the hearts of needy people, orphans, widows and proselytes.”

A donation of $18 covers one package; $180 covers packages for an entire floor of a nursing home. Donate online at www.toratreva.org or mail a check payable to Torat Reva Yerushalayim to 110 Chestnut Ridge Road, Suite 228, Montvale, New Jersey 07645. Donations are fully tax deductible.

Torat Reva Yerushalayim, founded by Sharona Margolin Halickman, is a non-profit organization based in Jerusalem that provides Torah study groups for students of all ages and backgrounds who would otherwise have difficulty attending a Torah study class. Study groups meet in private homes, synagogues, nursing homes and assisted living communities. Study sessions are tailored to the schedules and interests of the participants in English or Hebrew. Weekly classes are offered for Jerusalem’s elderly population in senior centers, nursing homes and assisted-living residences. Mommy and Me classes allow mothers to bring their babies to Torah study sessions. Other offerings include one-on-one learning, long distance learning and Bat Mitzvah opportunities including a week of learning in Jerusalem with an optional Bat Mitzvah ceremony.
