ZOA President Morton Klein to Discuss Israel and Anti-Semitism at Bnai Yeshurun

On September 8, Congregation Bnai Yeshurun will host guest speaker Morton Klein, president, Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), for a special presentation on Israel and the present danger of anti-Semitism in America.

Founded in 1897, ZOA is the oldest pro-Israel group in the United States. ZOA is dedicated to educating the public, elected officials, students and the media about the truth surrounding the ongoing Arab/Israeli conflict. With a national membership of over 25,000 and chapters throughout the United States, ZOA works to strengthen US-Israeli relations through lobbying, public affairs programs, combating anti-Israel bias in the media and on campuses and through constant educational material and activities.

ZOA has a history of distinguished leaders that include past president Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis and Rabbi Dr. Abba Hillel Silver. Current national president Morton Klein is widely regarded as one of the leading Jewish activists in the United States.

A child of Holocaust survivors born in a displaced persons camp in Gunzberg, Germany, Klein has worked in three administrations as an economist in Washington, D.C. He has served as a biostatistician at UCLA School of Public Health and the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine in Palo Alto, California, having worked closely with two-time Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling. His successful campaigns against anti-Israel bias in leading textbooks, travel guides, universities, churches and the media, as well as his work on Capitol Hill, were the subject of 40 feature stories both here and in Israel.

Klein will be speaking about the surge of increasing anti-Semitism in Israel and throughout America. “This talk will focus on the facts and the absolute truth,” said Klein. “Truth is not a political position or an emotional perspective.” Klein will break down what he called the false basis of the BDS movement and the overall dangers of a Palestinian state. He will expound on what he referred to as the Orwellian propaganda lies that are used to promote the BDS movement as well as the dangers U.S. Representatives Omar and Tlaib represent for Jews in Israel.

ZOA advocates for Israel wherever a voice is needed. ZOA campus department provides resources, counsel and support to students looking to build their knowledge about Israel and Zionism, and to those facing anti-Semitic harassment inside and outside the classroom. ZOA also has a Center for Law and Justice that works through the courts to help Israel and the Jewish people.

Consistently broadcasting Israel advocacy through print, speakers, community events, email alerts and an overflow of educational information, ZOA has positioned itself as the most sincere activist for Israel in the United States.

Klein will host a Q&A session and welcomes both left- and right-wing thinkers to come and ask hard questions. Klein is not afraid of tough questions, he said. The truth is on Israel’s side and he will provide the facts to prove so.

The event is open to the entire community and will be held at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun, 641 West Englewood Avenue in Teaneck. A VIP reception with Klein will begin at 7:30 p.m. for those who pledge a minimum of $1,000 to ZOA. The main presentation starts at 8 p.m. Advance reservations are requested at [email protected].
