World Zionist Congress Preps for Elections

(Courtesy of World Zionist Congress) The elections for the 38th World Zionist Congress will be held online from January 21 to March 11, 2020, but registration is beginning now.

The Congress is set to meet in October 2020 in Yerushalayim, and these elections determine the size of the various delegations. The single largest delegation outside of Israel comes from the United States and comprises 145 delegates out of a total of 500, and the size of representation in the delegation will determine the allocation of approximately $800 million in the coming years.

Rabbi Steven Pruzansky advised, “Poor election turnout…in 2015 led to drastic cuts in funding for Torah institutions and values and a dramatic increase in funding for non-Torah and even anti-Torah institutions and causes. We need to reverse that trend and we have the numbers if only we vote.”

There are several organizations on the slate for the Congress, including Mizrachi and Zionist Organization of America, as well as a petition for a new slate, Eretz Hakodesh, endorsed by Rabbi Pruzansky, which will be steadfast in defense of the Torah, the Jewish people and the land of Israel.
