Rabbi Dr. Natan Slifkin to Visit Fair Lawn’s Cong. Darchei Noam This Shabbat

Congregation Darchei Noam of Fair Lawn, will host Rabbi Dr. Natan Slifkin as a scholar in residence on the Shabbat of November 15-16.

Rabbi Dr. Slifkin is the founder and director of the Biblical Museum of Natural History near Beit Shemesh, Israel. Throughout the last 15 years, Rabbi Slifkin has run a number of educational programs at zoos and natural history museums. He also leads African safaris and was featured on Animal Planet’s documentary, “Beasts of the Bible.” His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Jerusalem Post, and numerous magazines, television programs and radio shows. In addition to his blog, Rationalist Judaism, he is the author of numerous books including “The Challenge of Creation” and “The Camel, the Hare, and the Hyrax.”

There will also be a motzei Shabbat lecture open to the broader Bergen County public.

Darchei Noam is located at 10-04 Alexander Ave, Fair Lawn. There will be a $5 suggested donation.

• “Rationalism vs. Mysticism: Schisms in Traditional Jewish Thought,” Friday night, 8:30 p.m. in the main sanctuary

• “Untangling Evolution,” Shabbat morning following mussaf

• “The Dynamics of Controversy: The Making of a Ban,” Shabbat afternoon at seudah shlishit

• “The Animal Kingdom in Jewish Thought,” motzei Shabbat at 8 p.m. in the main sanctuary
