Yad Leah to Hold Mega Clothing Drive March 22

(Courtesy of Yad Leah) Yad Leah has announced its Third Annual Northern New Jersey Mega Clothing Drive, which will take place on March 22. Yad Leah supports needy families across Israel by providing them with quality clothing and, in turn, ensuring their dignity and pride. The organization will be accepting all clothing in like-new condition including boys’, girls’, men’s and women’s, plus gently used linens, towels, tablecloths, handbags, backpacks, shoes and all outerwear.

Jessica Katz, executive director of Yad Leah, is confident that the greater community will again come out to show their support. As Passover quickly approaches, this is the perfect time to clean out closets and donate to those who are truly in need. When Yad Leah was created in 2003, just a few boxes were packed and shipped out to Beitar. Since then, branches have been established from the North to the Negev and everywhere in between. There are currently 23 communities throughout Israel benefiting from Yad Leah’s support. Israelis as well as olim from North America, the former Soviet Union, Ethiopia, Bnai Menashe from India and Peru have all made use of Yad Leah’s services.

Over the last 12 months, more than 7,000 boxes have been sent to Israel, totaling over 4 million dollars’ worth of quality clothing and other necessary items. The organization depends on donations to ensure that the clothing will reach those who need it most. There are sponsorship options available this year at all levels from sending 50 boxes for $1,800 down to a gift of $36.

Yad Leah helps put smiles on children’s faces as they “shop” with their parents to select clothing of which they can be proud, and that boost in self-esteem carries over to other aspects of their lives. Turn your clutter into an act of kindness and donate on March 22.

Drop-off locations include Keter Torah and The Teaneck Jewish Center/Heichal HaTorah, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Ahavath Torah in Englewood from 9 a.m.-3p.m. Volunteers will be on hand to provide curbside assistance. In addition, Yad Leah has year-round drop-off locations in Teaneck and Passaic. For more information or to make a donation, please contact [email protected] or 973-955-0861.
