Fair Lawn’s Congregation Darchei Noam Holds Annual Dinner

On Sunday Evening, May 17, Congregation Darchei Noam of Fair Lawn, NJ is celebrating its second annual dinner. The shul is led by its Rabbi and Rebbetzin, Rabbi Jeremy and Shira Donath. The dinner is honoring Doris and Lenny Eis, one of the shul’s founding families, for all of their contributions to the shul since its inception. Doris has been involved in so many ways including being a member of the building design committee for our present location on Alexander Ave, a member of the Kiddush committee, and has coordinated Yamim Noraim seating to name just a few. Lenny has been the chair of the facilities committee since the shul moved into its current building and has coordinated the various charitable collections for the shul and for other organizations throughout Bergen County that the shul collects tzedakah for. Together, the Eis’s are stalwarts of not just Darchei Noam, but the larger Fair Lawn and Jewish community.

The dinner will also be presenting Rachel and Israel Sabo with the Bonei Yerushalayim Award for all that they have done for the shul. The shul would not exist were it not for all of the hard work Izzy did to manage the original construction. On numerous occasions, when floods or other disasters have befallen the building, it was Izzy who was there to save the day. When the shul just recently upgraded its youth facilities and created a ladies lounge /nursing room, Izzy made it all happen. At seudat shlishit every week, it is Rachel and Izzy who make sure that the spread is befitting the occasion. With all of the time Israel has spent working on the building, he could not have done it all without the support of Rachel behind his efforts.

The dinner will take place Sunday evening, May 17th at 6pm at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center. Chicago City Limits will be performing at the dinner. To learn more about the shul, please see our new website at darcheinoam.com, or contact the Rabbi at rabbidonath@gmail.
