JFS Seeks Community Garden Volunteers

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for Union County, hosted by Jewish Family Service of Central NJ, and the JFS Family/Youth Volunteer Program, are seeking volunteers to plant, harvest and maintain the JFS Urban Community Vegetable Garden at the Jewish Family Service Halpern Building, 655 Westfield Avenue, Elizabeth.

Youth/Family Hours: Tuesday, 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., Friday, 10 a.m.-11:30 p.m.

RSVP Volunteers 55+: Monday, 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m.

The RSVP Program engages people 55+ to volunteer their services to meet critical community needs and provide a rewarding experience that will enrich the lives of volunteers. Volunteer opportunities also include packing and delivering emergency food packages, visiting homebound seniors, tutoring school-aged children, assisting with GED/ESL programs and much more. There are many additional benefits associated with becoming an RSVP volunteer.

If you are 55+ and would like to volunteer at these, or other times, contact RSVP Program Coordinator Amy Levine at [email protected]. Family/Youth Volunteers should contact Eli Bodner, JFS director of community engagement, at [email protected] or 908-352-8375.
