(Courtesy of AECDC) Anshe Emeth Community Development Corporation (AECDC)-Central Jersey Diaper Bank is pleased to announce the hire of their first executive director, Ginny Adams Kafka who brings with her a breadth of expertise in fund-raising, volunteer management and resource and organizational development.
This critical hire comes at a pivotal time for the Central Jersey Diaper Bank, which has seen an increase in requests consistently the past few years. For these families, a necessity like diapers is not covered by resources like WIC or SNAP.
“What we are able to provide to our clients is such a basic need many take for granted,” said Kafka. “Without diapers, babies cannot attend daycare and without child care parents cannot go to work. The help the AECDC-Central Jersey Diaper Bankprovides to these working families…many of whom are our neighbors and colleagues, allows them to care for their families during a period of need.”
AECDC Board of Directors President Deborah Cherniss said that Kafka’s fit for the position was evident in the first weeks of her hire.
“Ginny’s combination of enthusiasm and expertise was exactly what we were looking for to take the AECDC into its next phase. She brings fresh ideas and more importantly she brings the experience necessary to understand how best to implement them.” Cherniss noted that Ginny certainly hit the ground running, contributing significantly to AECDC’s fundraising efforts within her first month on board and highlighting opportunities to augment the agency’s operation.
Housed in Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick, New Jersey,Central Jersey Diaper Bank-AECDC helps low-income families and individuals by providing support needed to sustain basic living needs in Central New Jersey. Funded by grants and individual donations, AECDC provides free services to individuals of all ages, religions and ethnicities through two primary programs: The Central Jersey Diaper Bank (formerly B-FED: Baby Formula, Equipment and Diapers) helps families with very young children who cannot meet their children’s basic sanitary and nutritional needs and HELP-Health Equipment Loan Program loans durable medical equipment, especially for items not covered by Medicare or Medicaid such as shower seats and wheelchairs to clients at no cost.
It in addition to its primary programs, the AECDC oversees multiple community-focused initiatives throughout the year including the Community Advisory Council, which brings together local service agencies to gain insight and suggestions on how to address social and health related issues most efficiently.
