Throwing Shade at the Iran Nuke Deal

“This was a horrible one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made. It didn’t bring calm, it didn’t bring peace, and it never will.” —President Donald J. Trump

It wasn’t going to happen.

Not as long as President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo understood that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or Iran “nuke” deal posed a very real existential threat to Israel.

For the Trump administration, it is and always will be about Israel’s security and important place as a Jewish homeland and strong bond with the U.S.

And that is the key to all of this.

Because for the Obama administration, and the questionable efforts of his Secretary of State John Kerry, it was all about their failed, flawed policy of engaging Iran’s totalitarian, anti-American dictatorship.

Indeed, in recent days Kerry continued his contacts with the Iranian regime, contradicting the diplomacy of the sitting U.S. administration.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the world last Monday that it had gained 55,000 Iranian documents spelling out the process of nuclear development. Netanyahu’s proof was certainly more than enough to show President Trump just what the rogue Iranian regime was up to. It was lying. And when those lies were exposed, the best the left could do was say that they “knew” that Iran was duplicitous before the deal was made, while throwing shade at Israel’s evidence-backed position.

Next week the U.S. will add another layer of belief and partnership in Israel when its embassy in Jerusalem opens for business.

Israel, with Hashem’s help, will be around for the generations and the world to come. It will hopefully be at peace with its neighbors, including Iran. But President Trump called a rancid deal as he saw it.

And if Iran really wants peace, it will listen carefully and cooperate with the president’s changes. Chanting “death to America” and “death to Israel” is not a good way to engage the U.S. and Israel. That’s the way to start a war.
