Human Trafficking Awareness

My name is Nicole Gruenzweig, and my name is Pnina Lerman. We live in Staten Island but we go to a Modern Orthodox yeshiva called Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School in Livingston. In school, we have the privilege to take a sociology class with our fantastic teacher Rabbi Richard Kirsch. In class we often discuss serious and important topics that relate to us as growing students, as well as topics that apply to the general society.

Amongst discussing topics such as sexual harassment, child marriages and gender acceptance, we are now focusing on the important topic of human trafficking. With every topic we engage in, we try our best to bring awareness to these topics in every way possible.

Our latest idea regarding spreading the word on human trafficking involves reaching out to social media platforms. As teenagers, we observe our peers engaging in all forms of social media; however, most of the information that they intake from social media tend to pointless.

Instead of viewing makeup, false celebrity news or watching “satisfactory” videos, we believe that if people view at least one article of important information that can inform them on safety, they will be able to save themselves and others around them.

The idea of human trafficking affects boys and girls all over the world. Politicians and news outlets are not discussing this serious topic enough. We believe that if your social media platform will post at least one article on the idea of human trafficking, perhaps people would become more aware of how to protect themselves from predators.
