On Tuesday, March 11, members of one of the most popular clubs at Yavneh, the Monday Lunch Opera Club, had the experience of enjoying live opera by attending the final dress rehearsal of Bellini’s La Sonnambula (The Sleepwalker) at the Metropolitan Opera.

The club, now in its third year, is open to third, fourth and fifth graders. Members bring their lunch to the music room and watch and discuss opera during lunch and recess. The club is student run, under the direction of Marsha Greenberg Motzen, Yavneh’s music director. Yavneh Academy students have been attending Met dress rehearsals since 2001.
