Last Thursday morning after davening, the Moriah middle school students recited a Kel Maleh for the six million kedoshim who were killed during the Holocaust. Rabbi Eitan Lipstein spoke about the recent anti-Semitic attack in California and shared inspiring words from the Chabad of Poway’s Rabbi Goldstein. Later, the students watched the film “No Place on Earth,” a story about Ukrainian families who hid in caves during WWII. The events of the day were inspiring for the students and helped to set the tone for the importance of Yom HaShoah.

In conjunction with Yom HaShoah, Moriah early childhood began discussing the concept of a memory. The kindergarten classes discussed and defined the word, memory, and listed various types of memories. After this discussion, the children shared various memories with each other in their sharing circle. They also used a memory bag that contained various items to trigger memories.
