TABC Presents ‘A Few Good Men’

On Thursday, May 30, the Theater Department at TABC presented Aaron Sorkin’s “A Few Good Men” to a full house filled with parents, teachers and friends. Rebecca Lopkin, of Envision Theater and director of Performing Arts at TABC, chose to tackle a powerful drama which is also an iconic 1990’s film. Many famous lines are echoed when one mentions this film. “We live in a world that has walls.,” “You may refer to this court as ‘Your Honor’ or ‘Judge’; I’m sure I’ve earned it!,” and, of course, the most famous of all: “You can’t handle the truth!” The rehearsal process asked students to delve deep into questions of morality, ethics and status. Actors were introduced to a myriad of acting techniques to help them discover and develop their characters’ back stories, emotional journeys and physicality. Improvisation was another technique used to delve into relationships and further flesh out the story line. This is also the largest cast ever to fill the stage in a TABC production with 17 students involved in the show! Additionally, after curtain call, seven students were inducted into the International Thespian Society.
