Tenafly Chabad Academy Enjoys Food, Friends and Fun

The best kept secret of Bergen County is out!

While everyone was recovering from all the Chanukah parties, Tenafly Chabad Academy was getting started all over again, and it was the place to be this past Motzei Shabbat in Bergen County at Game Night! Parents and children of the school, community members, neighbors and friends came from all over to participate. Parent Association (PA) members, Elementary School Principal Stacy Katzwer and TCA staff all ran an amazing show, along with Rabbi Shain, executive director of Lubavitch on the Palisades where TCA is housed.

The party started at 6:30 p.m. Motzei Shabbat, with middle school students enthusiastically selling TCA merchandise. Everyone was warmly welcomed and led to the spacious social hall—complete with tables of snacks and prizes—where they sat on the edge of their seat with Bingo boards ready. Everyone was engaged with their friends and children, anxious to win the fabulous prizes—and nobody was looking at their phones!

After Havdala, PA member Eric Rabbani reminded everyone of the many areas of school in which parents can volunteer and get involved. Soon students will vote on which charity to choose to donate the funds that are raised at these events. Through social action, getting families engaged together in tikkun olam and continuing to teach children the value of giving and of helping, TCA comes together as a family.

Once the last bingo number was called, and the final prize distributed, no one was leaving! Parents socialized with one another and caught up and welcomed new and prospective parents, encouraging them to ask questions about the school. Family events are planned throughout the year as TCA strives to make connections for families across the community, and provide opportunities for people to laugh, interact and form relationships that strengthen the school community.

“I had a great time playing an intense game of competitive Bingo! My family had a great time and I enjoyed seeing families I don’t always see and it brought a sense of community within the school. Amazing job done by all,” said Lindsey Jutkowitz, parent of a third and first grader.
