Camp Regesh, BencherFactory.com, Fair Lawn VFW and GOAL Consulting Claim YYL Championships

Both teams having staged shocking underdog wins in the YYL junior girls division semi-final rounds, the Goldman Orthodontics Cubs came out swinging and took a commanding lead early on in the game. But the Camp Regesh Padres fought back each inning, clawing their way back into the game until the sixth inning when they rallied to win the game by one run in walkoff fashion. The Cubs had an outstanding season and should be congratulated for a hard fought championship game—playing tough on every pitch. Special kudos to the entire Camp Regesh Padres team for playing hard and never giving up all season long!

The BencherFactory.com Blue Jays started the year hot and tore threw the regular season to secure the #1 seed in the junior boys playoffs. After a first round playoff bye, the Blue Jays faced off against the Sapphire Wealth Advisory Group Marlins in the semi-final round. An early lead and stout defense helped the Blue Jays secure a spot in the championship game, against the winner of the Camp Shalom Cardinals and the Cool Kippahs Astros, the only two teams to beat the Blue Jays during the regular season! The Astros came out on top and set up a rematch with the title on the line. Off the bat, the Astros came out firing and jumped out to a 4-0 lead, however behind the staple that carried them to the title game, the Blue Jays’ stellar defense held the Astros there as they not only chipped away at the lead but built one of their own. After six hard-fought innings, the BentcherFactory.com Blue Jays came away with the title in what is the first recorded YYL championship featuring purveyors of bar mitzvah essentials! All in all it was another great year of Yavneh Youth League (YYL), where each player grew and helped harness key fundamental, life and team skills!

The Fair Lawn VFW Rangers defeated the Valley Brook Veterinary Tigers in senior girls championship in thrilling fashion at Stony Lane Field in Paramus. In a back and forth game, the Rangers rallied from three runs down in their final at-bat to close out the 12-11 victory. Graduating eighth grader Talia Distenfeld earned the win on the mound for the Rangers, who got home runs from Distenfeld, Devorah Kupperman and Shoshana Lofstock in the win. Ariella Fogleman had the game-tying RBI in the bottom of the sixth and scored the winning run on an RBI single by Eden Slasky.

What an amazing season for the GOAL Consulting White Sox! Starting the season with a few one-run losses, the boys became subdued and unsure when their first win would come. But the ingredients for greatness were always there—stellar pitching, timely fielding and power hitting. After a few rainouts, the Sox recorded their first win and confidence started building. Positioned as the #4 seed in their division for the playoffs, the Sox came up clutch in the play-in game at the legendary Camp Court field. A bases-loaded walk brought in the winning run and they were off to play the #1 seed in the semi-finals, the PediatriCare Associates Giants. In that semifinal game, the Sox built a four run lead heading into the bottom of the sixth. After three runs crossed, with two men on and two out, a Sox fifth grader made a great play in the hole between 1B and 3B and the Sox escaped with a thrilling 9-8 victory—in perhaps the most exciting senior boys game of the season. Next was the championship, where the Sox played the #3 seed, the Camp Shalom Dodgers. With the trophies in sight and sitting on a comfortable lead, the GOAL Consulting WhiteSox yielded a few runs, but by game’s end, the Sox cruised to a rags to riches win and claimed the senior boys championship! What an incredible season of resilience, confidence building and team spirit!
