Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

On Monday, November 18, DRS faced off against its crosstown rival HAFTR in a battle for the Five Towns.

DRS came into the matchup 4-0 and having dominated its first four games. HAFTR came into the matchup with a 2-2 record and look to bump its record up back over.500.

In the first period, DRS came out with intensity, just a minute and a half in, assistant captain Ilan Frenkel scored a spectacular goal to give DRS a quick 1-0 lead. The scoring didn’t stop there for DRS, and five minutes later junior Kyle Siegel found the back of the net for the Wildcats claiming a 2-0 lead that would close out the first period, though without the tremendous goaltending of Billy Glickman the score would’ve been much more lopsided.

HAFTR came out with extreme intensity to start the second period, trying to make it a game again, but failed to find the back of the net. The game then got very chippy as both teams found themselves on power plays, however neither could convert. Later in the second, DRS assistant captain Coby Casden scored off a great assist by Frenkel, making it 3-0, DRS.

The third period was a quiet period in terms of goals, however both goalies made spectacular saves keeping their teams in the game. DRS took the game 3-0, improving their record to 5-0 on the season.

Frenkel was given player of the game. Goalie Micheal Mintz has yet to give up a goal this season, as DRS goal scored vs. goals given up ratio goes to 40-1. DRS plays their next game against Flatbush when they will look to improve to 6-0.

HAFTR falls to 2-3 on the young season, as they look to bounce back against HANC on December 2.
