Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

It was an exciting day of quarterfinal matchups for the seventh and eighth grade division this week. The first game, top seed Cellectar Biosciences against eighth seed Rockwell Management turned out to be the highest scoring game of the day. Despite strong performances by Sara Mirwis and Danya Langer, Rockwell could not keep up with Cellectar, who was led in scoring by Samantha Pruzansky and Danielle Beckoff as Cellectar went on to win 52-35.

In the second game, seventh seed Sharsheret, who came in to the day with only one win this season, put up a good fight against the second seed, Mighty Macs, as the Macs won a real nail-biter, 39-37. The strong efforts of Basya Lynn and Nechama Adler, who combined for 27 of Sharsheret’s 37 points proved to just not be enough to counter the balanced attack of the Mighty Macs, led by Alexa Bromberg’s 18 points.

Our next game, the Dental Bowl, saw Dr. Saul Lejtman – Tenaflysmiles.com (4) against Jason M. Suss, DMD (5). The game was back and forth through the first half, but in the third quarter, Galil Neuer scored nine points, giving TenaflySmiles a lead they would not surrender. Even with Elizabeth Rieder getting Jason M. Suss seven points in the final quarter, TenaflySmiles won 41-29. In the final pairing of the day, Carter Wealth Management Group (3) took on Sharing Seats (6). CWMG jumped out to an early lead as the first quarter ended 6-2. But the rest of the game belonged to Sienna Dube and Sharing Seats as Dube scored 18 points in the second and third quarters and sent her team into the semifinals with a 40-16 blowout win.

All players have their eyes on reaching the championship game as the action continues this weekend with Sharing Seats taking on Cellectar Biosciences and Mighty Macs facing Dr. Saul Lejtman – Tenaflysmiles.com.
