Raanan is one of Israel’s most successful contemporary Jewish artists. He is inspired by the land’s beauty, as well as its biblical heritage and people. His paintings hang in multiple locations in Jerusalem, including the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and the Wolfson Museum of Jewish Art. He has others in museums, galleries and private collections around the world. In 2016 he overcame the destruction of 40 years of his life’s work when his studio burnt down—but he has continued to produce art inspired by Israel. One such example is Raanan’s new coffee table book, “Art of Revelation: A Visual Encounter with the Jewish Bible,” which is an artistic journey of paintings of the 54 parshiyot of the Torah.
