The Herzogs made aliyah with Nefesh B’Nefesh last summer after years of working in local Jewish education in New Jersey. Leah was a Judaic studies teacher at Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls in Teaneck for 13 years, while also serving as director of Israel guidance. Rabbi Avi Herzog was a lifelong educator teaching at both the Moriah School in Englewood and the Yeshiva at the Jersey Shore. He was also a congregation rabbi, adult educator, halachic advisor and editor and translator. Leah now works for Midreshet Amudim, a gap-year program in Modi’in and teaches for Matan. Rabbi Herzog gives shiurim in Giv’at Ze’ev, where they live, and teaches at Ahavat Yisrael in Yerushalayim.
